Last month I've added two new earrings and a new barrette to my shop. I'll link all the new stuff down below and I hope you like it. :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Unfortunately, I can't make the new chocolate cake barrettes (see my last blog entry) at the moment. Since I ran out of Fimo Air Light a few days ago, I decided to give a new modelling clay a try - Fimo Air Natural. Well, what can I say? It's just not suitable for my purposes. I have already finished one of the chocolate cake clips, and I am also reasonably satisfied with it, but the other three cakes I can throw in the bin. ヽ(o`皿′o)ノ

The package says, that the clay is particularly suitable for making puppets and has special modelling properties that other clays don't have. These special properties made me very curious and so I simply had to buy them (and of course I like to try new things!). The clay is NOT bad, please don't get me wrong, but as I said: It's just not suitable for my cake barrettes (and other projects). While drying the thin layers of "cake" warped and curled very much, what looked really awful! That's why I made a few new attempts with thick cake layers, which unfortunately also deformed a lot. Not as strong as the thin layers, but still too heavily for my taste.
Also I cannot dye the clay, because it's too hard and stubborn to kneat evenly. Cutting it with a knife is difficult. I had to use scissors to cut it, but that's not that bad, I guess. The mass is very firm, sticky and hardly malleable, but definitely good for making marionettes. It's just not suitable to make fine and filigree things. I think it's necessary to work with a lot of water, because the clay dries quickly, and of course to smooth everything with wet hands.

I bought two packs of it (white and brown) and now I don't know what to do with it. Maybe I could make little flower pots out of it.

I ordered a new Fimo Air Light package a few days ago. As soon as it arrives, I'll make the cakes again. I'm already sooo curious how they'll look like - although I have to say, that I'm now somewhat demotivated by the failures. ( ̄へ ̄)

Do you know Fimo Air Natural, and have you already worked with it? If so, what do you think about it? What have you made out of it?
